The Big Owl
3015 Kent Narrow Way S,
It is a rare treat when I am able to get to the Eastern Shore for a day out. A beautiful 78 degree day on the deck overlooking the Narrows is just what I needed.
We drove over to The Big Owl around 2:45 and it was already packed with people sitting back and enjoying the ambiance. They had the Sauce Boss playing. He plays blues music while cooking a pot of Gumbo the whole show, then everyone has the opportunity to enjoy his creation that they have been watching for 2 hours. The Seafood Gumbo is fantastic (I had three bowls). I also had a bucket of the potato fries which I think are new this year, they were great as well.
Although the food was incredible, nothing beats the overall environment of this place and would be a great place just to hang out for the day.
The Big Owl on Kent Island is a place you must visit by car or by boat.It makes for a great afternoon and one of the best sunsets around. I usually make it here at least once a year and it has expanded every year. Starting from a 12′ x 12′ shack on the end of the pier known as “The Shanty” to a full kitchen, 2nd bar, second deck seating, and great music it just keeps getting better.
Food: Very Good
Parking: Very Good.
